Giancola, who worked for U.S. Steel in 1964, as most people in the Ellwood City area did, purchased his first RV in Mercer County to use for a cross-country family vacation to California.  He packed his wife and four kids, including 6-month-old Randy, into the 14-foot travel trailer and the journey commenced.  The Giancolas made it through only one state, Ohio, before Clem realized that the vehicle’s size did not suffice.  He stopped in Elhart, In., deemed the RV capital of the world, to trade the trailer in for one with more floor space.
